Law students are invited to come and meet with attorneys and judges in a casual setting to discuss the important things students need to know about obtaining and retaining jobs after law school. A panel of distinguished attorneys and judges will speak at the beginning on the effect of the current economy on the legal profession and employment prospects. Small attorney panels will meet with groups of students to discuss the following topics:
Associates 411: Associate attorneys will discuss the things a law student should know in preparation for a summer clerkship and the first few years of practice, from what to expect during a summer clerkship to what life is really like as a young associate.
Interviewing Skills: Attorneys who have been through the interviewing process and conducted interviews themselves will share advice about the things law students need to do to prepare for and make a good impression during interviews.
Professional Networking: Networking is an important skill for all lawyers and future lawyers to have to build relationships, gain clients and find employment. Attorneys will present tips on how to network professionally.
Escape From Big Law: Practicing and non-practicing Attorneys will share information about career opportunities in solo practice and/or legal-related fields. They will present tips on how to prepare and what you need to do to make it successful.
Resume Review or One on One: Attorneys will review resumes and speak to students one-on-one and provide personalized feedback on how students can improve their resumes, make themselves stand out and learn more about particular practice areas. Students need to bring their resumes if they want an attorney to review it!
